Yes, I believe that every fresh start has to be a heroic story, Hollywood style, to build the interests of the first time readers. So the big question is "Who doesn't like having superpowers, having something great which no one else has?". I guess now I can relate this to my B-School Induction in which I was asked "What is your USP" and yeah all of us would have loved to answer this "Yeah I am like Superman!".
So here it goes, as we were little novice kids, any new idea that was shown to us, created a inquisition in our little minds. For instance when I saw Ramayan for the first time, I faintly remember I was four then, I conventionally challenged the fact that how can Hanuman Ji fly. Because I never thought something like this was possible. But yet again when heroic stories are told, rationality cannot come in picture. And since our parents, friends, everyone believes in Supernatural God Powers, no one denies it. Then you too somehow believe this. And once you accept this such things can happen, you start dreaming things you can do if you possessed these powers. Some of us like being the Superman, saving the city, helping the people Some of us like destruction of objects, being the best Conqueror, stealing money from banks. Some of us just like to take a chill, be able to fly around with the girl of our dreams, enjoy exotic places, to be able to discover those truths which no one knows. Again all these kind of actions depend on what one wants to perform or associates best with self. Since we are the masters of our dream world, all the rules and regulations are decided by our inner self. So the question of right or wrong is tackled by our own Department of Justice sitting inside our heads.
Dreams are collections of thoughts that socially or environmentally have touched or influenced us in some way or the other. So if snakes fear us during our sleep, it is because you heard a story about a snake bite two days before, and thus can be attributed to it. If you are feared of heights, and you come across a newspaper reading about someone committing a suicide by jumping from a tower, your fear gets much bigger in your dreams. Once this collection becomes huge as we grow old, the direct attribution to any previously heard stories, watching on television, etc. cannot be made. Because the dream world starts getting more and more complex, with the new rules that you have started to accept. Thus functionality of superpowers and their control is decided by our rational dream mind.
So I know I'm no Superman, yet in my dreams, I am!
